‘England’ is a touching new track from SALPA. It’s a heartfelt track that simultaneously tackles his homeland’s beauty, nostalgia, and its many ongoing identity issues. He achieves this via the dreamy, almost otherworldly sonic palette he has created with a mixture of the simple guitar chords and dark synth sounds that underpin his stoic voice. Interestingly, SALPA doesn’t entirely understand his own debut track: “I don’t remember much of the process, this song came from somewhere outside of myself. It doesn’t sonically align with where I’m going but it needed to come through and that is why I’m putting it out.” Keep an eye out for more from this newcomer over the course of 2023. -Dan Peeke
